Maciej Bartkowiak (born 1969) received M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Poznan University of Technology in 1993, and 1999, respectively. Currently he is an Assistant Professor at Poznan University of Technology, a member of the Multimedia Telecommunication and Radioelectronics Division.He is also a member of AES (Audio Engineering Society), EURASIP (European Signal Processing Association), PTETiS (Polish Society for Theoretical and Applied Electrical Engineering), and the Normalization Commission for Multimedia (NKP288) by the Polish Normalization Committee (PKN). In 1998 he received a domestic grant from the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) within the grant programme for young researchers. He also received an individual Award for a Young Researcher from the Board of the Economic Award of Polish President, Aleksander Kwasniewski. He is an author and co-author of over 55 conference contributions, 5 papers in journals mostly on colour image and video processing and coding, and audio coding, and also a co-author the "Colour Image Processing Handbook" (Chapman and Hall, 1998, ISBN 0412806207). He participated in 9 research projects on image and video coding founded by Polish National Committees for Research and few projects for industrial research and development, an international project founded by NATO linkage grant, and few TEMPUS projects founded by the European Community.
