Audio Research
We are a small team of people within the Chair of Multimedia Telecommunications and Microelectronics
devoted to audio research. We develop new techniques for audio signal analysis, transformation, synthesis,
restoration, watermarking, reconstruction of missing data, and synchronization of data streams. However,
our main interests and expertise are in audio signal compression.
The list of our currently pursued research topics include:
- perceptual audio coding,
- bandwidth enhancement of compressed audio,
- sinusoidal modeling of speech and audio, and its applications,
- parametric coding for high quality audio,
- AM-FM modeling of wideband audio,
- multichannel and spatial audio representations,
- new synthesis techniques for musical sounds.
We work in a variety of software and hardware development environments, including Matlab, PureData, MS Visual
Studio, TI Code Composer Studio, Xilinx ISE, Active HDL, MPLab. Apart from the workstation and computation facilities,
we have a dedicated critical listening room which is acoustically adapted and equipped with with
high quality audio reproduction system for conducting rigorous subjective listening tests.
